here are a few fun moments from my monday in first grade.
we had a few minutes before lunch and the students were waiting in their desks looking hungry. naturally, i decided to use my musical theatre talent (or lack thereof) to entertain the best audience i have ever performed in front of. with an interpretive rendition of "let it go" from disney's frozen i sang, dance, and straight up made a fool of myself much to the delight of my class. "dance parties," a newly introduced strategy i implemented to shake the sillies out throughout the day resulted in a break dance routine to the tune of "happy" by pharrell. seriously wish i could have videoed. it was epic. finally, one of my nuggets asked me today, "miss d, did you forget to shower today?" um no, why? "well, because your hair is in a fun bun (a term i taught them. i swear, we learn new things everyday) we noticed when it's in a fun bun it's when you're tired and probably haven't showered." in my mind...you can figure THAT out but you can figure out s blends? happy february, friends!
this past week was filled with a lot of firsts for me. most excitingly, i was able to full-time teach as my cooperating teacher had to stay home with a sick child. is it wrong to celebrate a child's cold because it means i get to take the reigns? meh, probably a little. anyway, i really got to see a different side of my kids when my cooperating teacher was out. it was a small glimpse of what a classroom of mine own might look like and it both scares and excites me. a few funnies to brighten up your saturday: girl: so miss d, i took a poop pill this morning. me: a what? girl: a poop pill. you know, because i've been pooping my pants a lot lately. me: you have? girl: yeah, not here but at home. anyway, my mom gave me a pill and told me that if i feel weird i should tell you. me: bless her. tell you what, if you feel weird give me a nod and we'll find someone else to deal with the poop ok? girl: deal. later... boy: miss d, i have to tell you something. me: shoot, man. what's up? boy: well, we discussed it and it's been decided that your hair looks better down. me: who discussed this? boy: we all did. it's for the best, miss d. thanks. as you can see these nugs have more personality than an snl character and i feel truly thankful that i get to be a part of their hilarity. who knows what's to come next week but with a birthday and some glitter in the works i'd say we're in for a fantastic week. peace out, homies. xo |
